Cable Reel
cable reel, motorized cable reel, spring cable reel
What is a Cable Reel?
A cable reel is a rotating drum used to store, deploy, and retrieve cables or hoses. In stage applications, cable reels are used to supply power and control signals to moving equipment such as stage lifts, revolving stages, and traveling scenery.
How It Works
Cable reels come in two main types: Spring-driven (a torsion spring provides constant rewind force) and Motor-driven (an electric motor provides controlled rewind with adjustable tension). The cable is connected at the drum hub, so the electrical connection is maintained as the drum rotates. As equipment moves away, the cable unwinds; as it returns, the reel rewinds the cable automatically.
