Factor of Safety
factor of safety, safety factor, stage safety factor
What is a Factor of Safety?
Factor of Safety (FoS) is the ratio between a component's breaking strength and its maximum working load. It provides a margin that accounts for material defects, dynamic forces, wear, and unexpected overloads. Stage machinery requires higher safety factors than industrial equipment because human lives are directly at risk.
