Point-to-Point Hoist

point to point hoist, P2P hoist

What is a Point-to-Point Hoist?

A point-to-point (P2P) hoist is a type of single point hoist designed to move a load between two or more predefined positions. Unlike continuous-positioning hoists, a P2P hoist operates in a "go to position" mode — the operator selects a stored height, and the hoist moves the load there automatically. Common in automated stage environments.

How It Works

P2P hoists use limit switches or absolute encoders to define preset positions. When a position is selected (via control panel, DMX, or network command), the controller drives the motor until the target position is reached, then engages the brake. Movement between positions is typically single-speed or two-speed (fast approach, slow final positioning).
