Wire Rope
wire rope, steel wire rope, stage wire rope
What is a Wire Rope?
A wire rope is a mechanical rope made of multiple steel wire strands helically wound around a central core. It is the primary load-bearing element in stage hoisting systems, providing the connection between the motor and the lifted load. Wire ropes are chosen for their high strength-to-weight ratio, flexibility, and durability.
How It Works
Wire rope construction consists of three levels: Wire (individual steel wires, 0.3mm – 3mm diameter), Strand (multiple wires twisted in a helical pattern, typically 6-19 wires per strand), and Rope (multiple strands twisted around a core, fiber or steel). Common constructions for stage use: 6×19 (general purpose), 8×19 (extra flexible), 6×36 (high flexibility).
