Manual Hand Winch

Manual hand-crank winch with 200–500 kg load capacity for stage batten hoisting. Driven through an NRV130 worm gear reducer with self-locking worm and ratchet dual protection, it winds wire rope neatly on a grooved steel drum. Ideal for small theaters, rehearsal halls, studios and venues without permanent power supply.

The BRD Manual Hand Winch is a dependable, power-free lifting solution for stage batten hoisting, engineered for loads from 200 to 500 kg. It is the practical choice for small theaters, rehearsal halls, school auditoriums, TV studios and multi-purpose venues where motorized fly systems are unnecessary or impossible to install.

Self-Locking Safety by Design

Lifting is performed through an NRV130 worm gear reducer. The worm stage is inherently self-locking — when the operator releases the crank handle, the load holds its position and cannot back-drive the mechanism. A ratchet mechanism adds a second layer of protection, making the winch safe to operate even by non-specialist staff. This dual-protection concept is essential for manual stage rigging, where an uncontrolled descending load is never acceptable.

Grooved Drum, Orderly Rope Storage

The machined steel drum carries a helical rope groove, so the wire rope winds in neat, parallel layers without crossing or crushing. Compared with a smooth drum, the grooved design dramatically reduces rope wear, keeps spooling predictable at every layer, and extends the service life of the wire rope — a decisive advantage for venues that cycle their battens daily.

No Power, No Limits on Location

Because the winch is entirely hand-operated, it needs no cabling, no control cabinet and no certification of electrical installations. It can be mounted wherever the batten system requires it — grid, wall bracket or steel structure — and remains fully functional during power outages. For touring productions, temporary venues and developing facilities, this independence from infrastructure often decides the project.

Typical Applications

The manual hand winch is configured for 3–4 point batten suspension systems, lifting curtain battens, lighting bars, scenery borders and teaching rigs in schools and training theaters. Combined with BRD rigging components — pulley blocks, wire rope, beam clamps and cable rewinders — it forms a complete, budget-friendly manual fly system.

As an experienced stage machinery manufacturer in China with 500+ installations in 14 countries and regions, BRD Technology supplies the manual hand winch individually or as part of complete rigging packages, with mounting hardware, rope specifications and installation guidance included.

As a manual hand winch it covers lifting jobs where no power is available or the movement is occasional. Used as a stage lifting winch for batten hoisting, scenery adjustment and stage winch backup, it is delivered with mounting hardware, rope specification and installation guidance.
