The BRD Light-Duty Manual Hand Winch covers lifting tasks from 100 to 300 kg where a full motorized hoist would be oversized. It is a compact, power-free batten winch for small theaters, school auditoriums, TV studios, exhibition halls and training rigs.
Open Frame, Divided Drum
Unlike closed-housing winches, the open steel-plate frame puts the whole drum in view — rope condition, winding layers and mounting bolts can be inspected at a glance. The drum is divided into individual rope grooves, so each rope runs in its own channel: no crossing, no overlapping, no rope damage from layers biting into each other. This divided design makes it especially suitable for multi-rope lifting points.
Spring-Loaded Rope Presser
A spring-loaded presser keeps the wire rope firmly seated in the drum groove during winding and lowering. Even with sudden slack — for example when the load is set down — the rope stays in position instead of jumping out of the groove. This small detail is what separates a reliable stage winch from a hardware-store winch.
Built for Real Stage Work
The winch is entirely hand-operated: no cabling, no control cabinet, no electrical certification. The ergonomic crank handle gives smooth, controlled winding, and the open frame mounts directly to grid structures, walls or support steel. Powder-coated finish resists the corrosion and wear typical of backstage environments.
Typical Applications
One to four point lifting for curtain battens, lighting bars, scenery pieces and teaching rigs in schools, rehearsal halls, studios and exhibition venues. Combined with BRD pulleys, wire rope and rigging components, it forms a complete manual lifting system at a fraction of the cost of motorized equipment.
BRD Technology manufactures stage machinery in China with 500+ installations across 14 countries and regions. The light-duty manual hand winch is supplied individually or as part of complete rigging packages, with mounting hardware and installation guidance included.
